"I'm not begging, I just want you to ask God if helping the youth in Rwanda
in a totally unique and exciting way is right for you this Christmas.
IF SO. WE HAVE A SPECIAL GIFT** FOR YOU (see above)!
IN CONCLUSION (Please continue to read ...)
Like I said at the beginning of this letter ... 2014 has been an "AMAZING" year for the NEHEMIAH TRAINING CENTER and our Empowering the Local Church as the beneficiary of this sustainable business model. As you can see this has been a very busy year and we could not have accomplished this without God working through the hearts of our supporters in so many ways.
NOW WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP AGAIN. There are still so many things we need to do before our Grand Opening in March and our financial needs are approx. $25,000. And to achieve this I REALLY need each or you to pitch in with a special "Nehemiah Christmas Donation".
I really understand I am asking a lot, but could you please consider a financial gift of any size? Your generosity helps me to equip the local church to empower the poor in their communities. I don't know how I could thank you any more for all you have done. Many nights it brings tears to my eyes, knowing that God has worked through your hearts to make an incredible difference in Rwanda Young Adults, providing them with a Hope and a Future.
"Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due time you will reap a harvest if you do not grow weary." Galatians 6:9
Anyone who sends in a "Christmas Donation" will receive an engraved copy of the "You Say ... God Says ..."on a walnut plaque. (shown above)
You can send your tax deductable support made out to Saddleback Church and mailed to me: Skip Crittenden, 11832 Euclid Street, Garden Grove, CA 92840.
WE MADE FIVE PEACE PLAN TRIPS TO RWANDA
We have made five trips since our existing training Program was evaluated in May of 2012.
The proposal of a sustainable business was launched and we landed on the idea of a
Coffee Shop. In March of 2015 we will be short just two months from being three years of
development and implementation.
WE HAVE 100’s OF TEAM SUPPORTERS
Over these five trips and purchasing of equipment, shipping, building supplies and our USA Travel TEAM Facilitation; our supporters have generously donated over $90,000 to make this project a reality.
WE FINISHED CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEHEMIAH TRAINING CENTER
Trips two and three found us training our students in modern steel stud framing and drywall installation. Hanging soffits from the ceiling was a new concept for them and using battery powered drills and saws.
RESEARCHED AND BOUGHT ALL THE NECESSARY COFFEE SHOP EQUIPMENT
The purchase of all the equipment used, took over a year to accumulate and fabricate a model here in the USA with all plumbing and sewer fittings that would all fit into the shipping crates. “Coffee Shop in a Box.”
SHIPPED ALL THE EQUIPMENT TO BUTARE, RWANDA
The shipping of the equipment from USA to Rwanda, Africa was scheduled to be three months and turned into almost eight months with the equipment stuck in Mombasa, Kenya for five months. Even with one of the shipping crates being substantially damaged; none of the equipment or supplies was damaged.
CREATED EXTERIOR SIGNAGE FOR THE BUILDING
Our USA TEAM stepped up in supplying exterior and interior signage and Decorator suggestions of colors for the Training Center along with a 28 foot by 20 foot banner for the entire side of the building that can be seen all the way from Town.
ALONG WITH OUR YOUNG PEOPLE, WE INSTALLED ALL THE EQUIPMENT
After unloading one of the 2000 pound containers "by hand" ( and no one was injured) to my amazement again none of the equipment was damaged or lost. It was like Christmas after not seeing the contents of the containers for almost nine months.
WE HAVE FOUND A GREAT GENERAL MANAGER FOR THE COFFEE SHOP
We are lucky to have a great guy that already works for St. Paul’s Cathedral overseeing the Guest House, Facilities and Programs on the Church Campus. Honore will be a great asset to the Leadership TEAM!
WE HAVE FOUND A COFFEE SHOP MANAGER FOR THE NEHEMIAH TRAINING CENTER
We are excited to have a wonderful young man that has worked for a major coffee shop in Kigali for seven years and wants to head up our new program. Sam will bring his expertise in Customer Service, Guest Services, Staff Training and Facility development to the cutting edge that we are wanting from our Training Classroom Coffee Shop.-
HIRED NEW STAFF TO TEACH OUR NEHEMIAH TRAINING CENTER PROGRAMS
Our Art and Sewing Programs are also getting a ‘Face lift’ with some old and some new Teachers and support staff. All of our management, staff and students now will be required to be recommended by their local church to be part of the Nehemiah Training Center.
SCHEDULED VISION TRAINING FOR 30 PREVIOUS GRADUATES
We have over 30 students that have graduated from the art and sewing programs with their certificates. These students will now form the base for the new Internship Program at Nehemiah’s Best Coffee as they learn about equipment, customer service, hygiene and business practices. These skills will provide them with the opportunity to secure a position in the fastest growing industry of guest services in restaurant, hotel and retail environments.
FRANCHISE DEVELOPMENT OF MOU BETWEEN PEACE PLAN AND ST. PAUL'S CATHEDRAL
The establishment of a Franchise system of the Equipment to the Local Church will insure the stability of the program over the next two to three years of repayment with the money being set aside for replicating a new business.
SCHEDULED TOT (Training of Trainers) TRAINING FOR MYSELF AND STAFF FOR YOUTH LIVIHOODS PROJECT
I am excited to Personally be trained along with all my staff in February 2015 in the eight modules preparing young adults (15 to 25 years old) for getting them ready for the job market. They will learn personal hygiene practices, business practices, safety, resume writing and so much more.
STARTED CREATING VIEDO TRAINING FOR ALL COFFEE SHOP EQUIPMENT
We are privileged to have a passionate supporter that volunteered to write all of our operational procedures for all of our coffee equipment. He and others from his church are scheduled to be our START-UP TEAM in March 2015 for our Grand Opening March 24th.
SCHEDULED TEAM TRIPS FOR 2015
Open Trip for TRAVELING TEAM MEMEBERS is March 6th through March 23rd. We will also have at least two more trips scheduled during the rest of the year. Let us know and maybe we can cater a trip for your schedule.
FINALIZED PLANS TO OPEN THE COFFEE SHOP ON MARCH 24, 2015
